As a certified teacher, I had all the tools — but nothing worked. I watched my child suffer, fall behind, and be dismissed. When those results weren't what they wanted to see, it was MY CHILD they said was broken. 

Why the StepIN Reading Series?

The StepIN Reading Series was not created by the government, in a boardroom, or even a publishing office — it was born from a mother’s tear-stained prayers, broken heart, and her unrelenting refusal to give up on her child. The StepIN Reading Program exists because I watched my own son, a bright, curious, and capable child, be repeatedly labeled as someone who could never learn to read. Despite early signs of intelligence and years of interventions, assessments, reading programs, and an Individualized Education Plan (IEP), he continued to fall further behind until professionals eventually told us to accept that he would never be able to read or write coherently. As both a teacher and a mother, I refused to believe that his potential could be defined by a test score or what I experienced as a broken educational system.
I went to work to find answers to the questions doctors and professionals and traditional methods had failed to provide. I dedicated years to studying how the brain learns, researching reading science, attending trainings, and becoming a director to many programs that promised improvement. Through prayer, perseverance, and countless hours of one-on-one instruction, I discovered approaches that unlocked my son's ability to read and helped him succeed where other programs had not. That journey transformed my understanding of education and taught me that every child deserves instruction that builds on their strengths instead of focusing on their limitations. StepIN Publishing was created to give all advocates the practical tools, confidence, and hope to teach struggling readers in ways that truly work.

Davis, Norman Doidge, OxEd, EBLI, MaryAnn Wolf, Alfred Tomatis, Dianne Craft, and others, this series distills complex strategies into a simple, parent-led path that any family can follow — without spending thousands on tutors or programs that miss the mark. The first two books in this series, StepIN Pre-Read: Book 1&2, lay the foundation to awaken the reader within your child through purposeful exercises, guided videos, and hands-on activities that work with how your child’s brain is wired — not against it. The third and fourth books, Reading Practice Book 1&2 builds foundational phonemic sound placement and understanding in a unique approach WITHOUT memorizing spelling rules! Using purposeful exercises, guided videos, and hands-on activities. The capstone of the five-part reading series works with reading fluency and comprehension taking a deep dive in to language morphology, again using purposeful exercises, guided videos, and hands-on activities.

HOW IT WORKS

The StepIN Reading Program is not your typical "fill-in-the-blank" workbook. This is an interactive, hands-on learning experience designed to build deep, lasting reading skills—starting with the foundational steps that most traditional programs skip over. This book is not meant to be rushed through. This method was born out of real-life experience, a journey of struggle, learning, and spiritual guidance. Traditional reading programs often overlook foundational processes that are essential for true reading fluency—especially for children who struggle. This book was created because the author lived it. After years of heartbreak and trial, I discovered the practices and processes that are the most effective for struggling readers.
